Online Masters in Health Average Salary

The online masters’ in Health course has recently attracted more students due the convenience it accords the students as they can continue working as they learn. Further the graduates get in the job market knowing that their pay package will greatly be improved. Attaining the online masters’ degree actually opens a whole new world of possibilities for the students. On an average, the masters’ degree holders in health earn a starting salary of between $52,000 and $80,000. However, this is a standard amount that will vary for different health facilities.

The online masters’ in health average salary does not have a big distinction with that earned by graduates from the conventional universities. This salary will depend on several factors one of them being the area of specialization. The Professional Association of Health Care Office management has, however, set the range within which the different specialties should be compensated. This is in order to avoid situations where some health facilities take advantage of the practitioners by paying them a salary below the set minimum level. In this regard, the online masters’ graduates practicing in dermatology and gastroenterology should earn between $70,000 and $71,000 while those in family practice should earn an average salary of $60,000 to $67,000.  A cardiologist should earn around $76,000 annually.

The average salary of an online masters’ degree holder will depend on the location where one is practicing. For instance a person working in a major metropolitan area earns an average salary of $123,290 annually while if the same person was to work as a smaller metropolitan area the salary would revolve around $76,860.

The size of a health facility (which usually depends on the number of physicians working there) is a determinant on the average salary to be received. According to a research done by the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) in 2006, larger facilities i.e. those with 26 or more physicians, paid a salary of about $132,955 per year. For those with 7 to 25 practitioners, they pay an average of $95,766 while those practicing in smaller facilities i.e. below 6 physicians they will most likely get $72,875.
